Job Description

Bookkeeper Receptionists at North Central Utility are required to have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and possess excellent people skills.  This is a highly visible position with the need to multitask at appropriate times. This person works closely with 8 other bookkeeper/receptionists in 6 locations. This position is 30 hours per week, with your working hours within the core business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a ½ hour lunch.

Job Details

  • Responsible for managing multi-inbound phone lines along with the related paging and voicemail system
  • Update voice mail system as needed
  • Responsible for ordering office supplies and maintaining office equipment as necessary
  • Enter accounts payable invoices into computer system
  • Pull invoices to be paid on a weekly basis, file the paid ones
  • Complete daily deposit including: posting cash sales and sales on account into computer system, completing the deposit slip to take to bank
  • Work with the parts and service managers to resolve any customer billing questions
  • Process credit applications and check credit references for new credit applicants
  • Call on late paying customers to clear any issues
  • Clear credit holds
  • Reconcile bank statements as needed.
  • Reconcile various reporting schedules
  • Reconcile the cash register on a daily basis
  • Enter sales tax exemptions on additions spreadsheet and file paper exemption forms


  • An Associates degree in accounting is preferred, but not required
  • Great time management skills
  • Able to multi-task


  • Excellent customer service skills in person and on the phone
  • Impressive experience, especially demonstrated experience in multi-location accounting, required as a substitute for a formal degree
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs


  • Insurances are offered, but at the part-time employee contribution
  • Same holidays as full time employees, but at 3/4s time
  • PTO accrual starting on first day but 3/4s time
